What is Programming Design?
A current school of thought says that Pascal is an obsolete language and no one needs to know about it. Another school of thought believes that Pascal is a very strict language and it is the best to teach beginners the disciplines of programming design and implementation. Following Pascal you can proceed to learning Visual Basic, C, C++, Visual C++, Java, etc. After all, object oriented programming methods use chunks of code that follow similar rules as our good Pascal! Since 1986, plenty of students passed by me. Now, I see some students have coloured and decorated their forms with buttons and lists. Unfortunately, their programs did not work because they did not know how to build the right code to manipulate those fancy buttons and lists.
You will spend around eighty percent of the time using this book working on paper. You will not waste any time on buttons or lists but building test data tables and drawing flow charts. You will be like a design engineer working on a house plan, drawing all maps necessary for the success of the project - not rushing to build the house without maps.
I have written this book especially for the self-employed, students planning to learn how to write efficient Programs in Pascal or even in other languages, and companies who need help in training staff.
I show you how to design and build programs, you will actually use, not just how Pascal works. This book will start you from the essential programming fundamentals, through control structures, test data design, flowcharting, and coding.
Throughout the book you will find step-by-step instructions, examples, and good structured programming design practice with solutions.
I streamline the learning process so that you can start using Pascal, designing test data, and drawing flow charts effectively right away.
