What is a Spreadsheet?
You will learn to produce and maintain spreadsheets of the kind used in accounting, statistics, financial modelling and inventory control, etc. Anything which you would normally do with a piece of paper, pencil and hand calculator could be done more quickly and efficiently with a spreadsheet program. You can perform calculations, manipulate figures using formulae and display results in rows and columns, graphs, pie and bar charts.
  1. Getting started you will have an overview of workbooks, entering data, moving around the spreadsheet, slecting ranges, and giving Excel instructions. Then you will know how to save workbooks, get help, and quit Excel.
  2. In the second stage you will be editing and formatting worksheets, and creating templates.
  3. Performing calculations, and using functions, referencing and naming cells and ranges, making decisions, using names, copying formulas, linking worksheets with formulas, printing and publishing worksheets on an Intranet or the World Wide Web).
  4. Graphing worksheet data, automatic formatting, plotting and working on graphs.
  5. Sorting data, finding records, adding and deleting records, filtering records, summarizing data, consolidating data, creating pivot tables and pivot charts.
  6. More Advanced Calculations: Creating an estimate worksheet, looking up information, projecting profit margin with iteration, what-if analysis goal seek, data tables, scenarios, scenario reports.
